Are you having a hard time finding your true strengths? Have you ever been in an interview hoping not to receive that one question: What are your strengths? You just want to say give me a chance at this position and let me impress you. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. I SHOULD, but that’s just my opinion.
Let me tell you a little about me. I have so many hobbies. I love creating beaded jewelry, art & crafts (OK who does love it), and right now woodwork. Right now I have no time to do these things. First of all, I’m a mom. That means I’m the master, the maid, the chauffeur, the have a nice day mommy loves but I need my own peace sometimes too, get it done or just leave it be… sigh. I work an 8-5 job and commute super far! All bloggers are racking up extra cash, Go figure!
Ok back to my story. I recently had a moment. I asked myself. Self, what are you doing with your life? Self responded with a long frustrated sigh that ended with deep silence. Then I went about my day of course. What else was I do to? In an attempt to feel better about my life. I “Googled” *Ted talks for a positive workplace*. Those wonderful people down at TED created a complication of videos for people like me. Check out Shawn Achor’s and others on Ted talk on the Work Happier channel. The videos are sure to make your day.
Let me get back to the point. I ran across a video entitled “ How to find work you love by Scott Dinsmore”. That’s a huge deal. Have you ever felt like so many people are finding their passion and here you are watching it happen? These people are super happy. Flaunting their passion. Welcome to my world. Scott Dinsmore mentions Strengthsfinder 2.0. Me, being that persona that I am, I went to find out what this “Strengths Finder” is all about. I want to know my strengths too, but most importantly make sure that my strengths are exactly what I think for it to be.
*Gallup Press, 2007*
The #1 *Wall Street Journal* and #1 *BusinessWeek* bestseller that introduced the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment with features that include a personalized Strengths Insight Report, an Action-Planning Guide, and a web-based Strengths Community.”
If you head over to Gallup’s Strengths Center and purchase the TOP 5 assessment. You can find your Top Five Strengths for $15.00, or pay $89.00 for all 34. Right now I only need five. I’m struggling at work. I’m looking for positivity and I just need to make sure that I am on the right track.
You will take an assessment. You will receive your top five strengths. You will receive other information about these strengths and other downloads to help you understand each strength.
Let me know if you take the assessment. I will share my strengths on another post!
